The dirt’s the best teacher

Students at UP learn from the best – for students in the Student Led Unity Garden (SLUG), their teacher happens to be mother nature.

Working in a garden can be challenging for students who’ve never had to raise their own food. Every plant requires something different, and a garden the size of SLUG requires multiple members who can dedicate consistent amounts of time. However, students find the more tangible form of labor a respite away from the mental exertion required of college classes.
