Today, February 12 is Mardi Gras, and although you might be upset you weren’t able to make it New Orleans during the week, that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the festivities of the famous holiday. Wherever you might be, below are some tools and products that will help you maximize your last day before you give something up for Lent. But even if you can’t celebrate tonight, this weekend works just as well.

Mardi Gras Beads

Tradition in New Orleans consists of everyone wearing purple, green, and gold, and adorned with long beads caught from the beautiful floats. But recently, that tradition has been thought to be different by women lifting their shirts and exposing their bare breasts in order to receive beads. Whatever your beliefs are, no Mardi Gras party is complete without them. Lots.

Like the beads, Mardi Gras is well-known for being a part of large amounts of nudity. But just because you aren’t there doesn’t mean you can’t join in the fun without actually exposing yourself. You’re not actually naked but just rather make it seem like it, so you can convince your Instagram followers you were there.

Sensor bar Sunglasses

These sunglasses are a good Idea to have when many of your fellow friends who you decide to invite to your party will be taking photos. These sunglasses are a good way to protect your identity if you don’t want your job or school to find inappropriate photos of yourself (especially if you don’t mind a little nudity).

*Important reminder*

If you do decide to have alcohol, be sure to be responsible. Don’t drink and drive and don’t supply to underage people. A good place would be a home where you can’t see inside and neighbors won’t complain about noise.

Have Fun!

I loved the semi-historical context you put mardi gras beads in. And those are some great ideas for identity nightmare prevention!

I was extremely jealous to find out my sister went down to New Orleans this past weekend for a pre-game roundup of the events. Thanks for the ideas, I’ll certainly be celebrating here in PDX!
